- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the flour and cold cubed butter together until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Slowly add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough comes together.
- Shape the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and place it in a pie dish.
- Fill the pie shell with the apple mixture and drizzle the melted butter on top.
- Brush the edges of the pie crust with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
